I’m Jack C-T Adams, a music composer in the Portsmouth area. I am also a current PhD student at the University of Portsmouth, and one-half of the musical duo KONKRT. My main area of research is Contemporary Classical composition, exploring pitch, dissonance, and urban soundscapes. My music intends to include socio-political, cultural, and physical influences, primarily from Portsmouth. Exploring how integrating themes such as urban found sounds into orchestral, abstract, and experimental settings can support the compositional process. I believe music can not only be used to reflect a city, but make a statement about it, what it’s done right, wrong, and where it should go next. This can be applied to more than just Portsmouth, any location, city, subject matter, music can be a guide for reflection and improvement.
