Dr Emma Austin teaches and researches across a wide variety of popular culture and film history, but has a special interest in how some horror allows a space for expressing contemporaneous fears. Her recent work has included exploring Eco-horror and the monstrous in Global cinema, and adaptational frameworks in Creepshow. For this event, she is drawing upon how popular cultural texts from the 1980s onwards responded to British conceptions of a nuclear blast.
